The Importance of Eucharistic Adoration

My Story & Faith Journey

As a second and third grader, I went to church sometimes at 3:00 a.m. and slept on the steps of the church to open the church was a routine of my life. I wanted to be an altar server. I wanted to pray the morning prayer at 5:00 a.m. at the church through the loudspeakers and wake up the whole village; prayer the night prayer at 9:00 p.m. so the whole village heard me was my cup of tea.

As I entered boarding school, I was told the wisdom of St. Don Bosco:

“There are two things the devil is deadly afraid of fervant Communions and frequent visits to the Blessed Sacrament.”

I think the Salesian Don Bosco deepened in me my love the the Eucharist. The priests would say to the boarders, “The church is located at the center of the school and the boarding dorm. Whenever you pass through the church, just stop and say “Hi” to your friend who is waiting for you there to see you; He loves to see you.”

I think that created such an impact on the lives of the school children, most of them not Catholics. When we entered the church, we all behaved so wonderfully. We all kept silent. There was always a wonderful ambience for prayer.

Lumen Gentium 11, the Catechism of the Catholic Church 1324 states,

“The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.” The other sacraments, and indeed all ecclesiastical ministries and works of the apostolate, are bound up with the Eucharist and are oriented toward it. For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spirit good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch.”

Adoration brings blessings far beyond the personal ones that are felt by the individual.

The Church and the world have a great need for Eucharistic worship. Jesus awaits us in this sacrament of love. Let us not refuse the time to go to meet him in adoration.

Eucharist is the medicine for any sickness of mind, body, or soul.

To me, Eucharist is the medicine for any sickness of mind, body, or soul. The time that we spend before the Eucharist Lord is never wasted; rather, it is saving time for our souls. Hence, let us visit the Eucharistic Lord as often as you can, at least once a day. Spend as much time as you can. At least an hour before him.

As Catholics, we must never be ashamed to be CATHOLIC. Tell the world how much we love Jesus Christ and how much we love, adore, and defend the Holy Eucharist. I would encourage you to sign up for Eucharist Adoration in our parish for the First Friday devotions. It’s also so great to visit Him EVERY DAY of our lives. IT SHOULD BE PART AND PARCEL OF OUR LIVES.
