God Bless You All

A Message from Father Nathan

My dearest people who are all close to my heart!
Lots of love, blessings, and prayers to you all.

The ABCD IMPACT

In solidarity with the world in need

The Church is called to be an “advocate of justice and of the poor” in the face of intolerable social and economic inequalities, which “cry to heaven”. Your gifts to the ABCD help the Church here in South Florida to walk with the poor as their friend.

The ABCD appeal is made once a year, and unlike the weekly collections at Masses, which stay in the local parish, these funds go to the archdiocese, to fund programs and services that are beyond the scope of individual churches.

As we celebrate the final days of Christmas and The Epiphany of the Lord we begin our annual ABCD charity drive.

During January, it will be all about the ABCD Campaign. No doubt our beloved Archbishop with his team have been working tirelessly to set out the program and they want all of us to achieve the goal. It has been arranged to have the priests preach about and for ABCD.

Please Prayerfully consider your Pledge

May I ask that all of you prayerfully consider your pledge toward achieving St. Gabriel’s goal? There are many parishes that achieve over and above their target. When we exceed the target, the extra money comes back to the parish, and if we DO NOT achieve the targeted goal, the money will eventually be taken from the parish account. What this means is that we are called to reach our target. Hence may I request you to come forward to achieve our target?

ABCD does Good. It helps the Poor and marginalized + Educated seminarians

As you are very well aware, the money goes to the education of the seminarians for their formation, to the catechism of the children, helping the poor, assisting the retired religious, and reaching out to the suffering around the world to name a few of the program.

I am Visiting My Family in India

While I am away I will be, according to the convenience of the internet in India, in touch with you on Facebook about what is happening here at St. Gabriel’s. I am sure that my visit is going to be hectic, but I believe, I need time with my family, after the holidays.

I have made arrangements for all the Masses and Sacraments in my absence. Everything should go smoothly with your help. If there is anything so urgent or an emergency please call the office, and you will be helped

God bless you all.

With lots of love and blessing.

Ever wanting to be faithful to your service.

—Fr. Sahayanathan Nathan

Holy Days of Obligation | The Catechism of the Catholic Church
The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains holy days of obligation this way:
Family needs or important social services can legitimately excuse the obligation of Sunday rest (specified in the Fourth Commandment). The faithful should see that legitimate excuses do not lead to habits prejudicial to religion, family life, and health {CCC 2185}.

Feast of Joachim and Anne | the parents of Jesus’ mother, Mary. On July 26 the Roman Catholic Church commemorates the parents of the Virgin Mary, Saints Joachim and Anne. The couple’s faith and perseverance brought them through the sorrow of childlessness, to the joy of conceiving and raising the immaculate and sinless woman who would give birth to Christ.
