A Message from Father Nathan

My dearest people who are all close to my heart
Lots of love, blessings, and prayers to you all.

The Solemnity of St. Joseph

Today is the Solemnity of St. Joseph. This is the primary and highest feast of St. Joseph and is celebrated annually on March 19th. Because this feast is a solemnity, even though it falls during Lent, the faithful are dispensed of their Lenten obligations on this day. Since the 10th century, several Western countries celebrated March 19th as the Feast of St. Joseph, with the feast day becoming the official practice of the Church in the 1500s.

Who Was St Joseph?

Everything we know about the husband of Mary and the foster father of Jesus comes from scripture and that has seemed too little for those who made up legends about him. Despite his humble work and means, Joseph came from a royal lineage. Luke and Matthew disagree about some of the details of Joseph’s genealogy, but they both mark his descent from David, the greatest king of Israel (Matthew 1:1-16 and Luke 3:23-38). Indeed, the angel who first told Joseph about Jesus greets him as “son of David” a royal title also used for Jesus.

Confessions

As I informed you LAST WEEK – morning confessions will be held on Wednesday, March 29th, and Thursday, March 30th immediately after 8:00 a.m. Mass until 10:30 a.m.

Afternoon confession will be held Friday, March 31st, immediately after the 4:00 p.m. Stations of the Cross until 6:00 p.m.

I am giving you options for your convenience to come for confession, please come. It’s a time of GRACE AND HEALING – as we prepare ourselves to be worthy for the pascal festivities.

THERE WILL NOT BE CONFESSIONS DURING HOLY WEEK

God bless you all.

With lots of love and blessing.

Ever wanting to be faithful to your service.

On October 1, Catholics around the world honor the life of St. Thérèse of the Child Jesus, or St. Thérèse of Lisieux on her feast day. St. Thérèse was born January 2, 1873 in Alençon, France to pious parents, both of whom are scheduled to be canonized in October 2016. Her mother died when she was four, leaving her father and elder sisters to raise her.
