A Message from Father Nathan
My dearest people who are all close to my heart! Prayers and blessings to you.
This is the year of Saint Joseph
December 8, 2020, is the 15th anniversary of the Declaration of Saint Joseph as Patron of the Universal Church. Pope Francis issued an Apostolic Letter entitled Patris corde (“With a Father’s Heart”).
In this beautiful letter, the Holy Father proclaimed a “Year of Saint Joseph” from December 8, 2020 to December 8, 2021 (See Vatican News).
Plenary Indulgences
The Apostolic Penitentiary also issued a Decree granting plenary indulgences for this special year. Below is the prayer that Pope Francis composed. We will pray this starting this weekend.
Pope Francis’ Prayer to Saint Joseph
Hail Guardian of the Redeemer
Spouse of the Blessed Virgin Mary
To you God entrusted His only Son;
in you, Christ became man.
Blessed Joseph, to us too,
show yourself a father
and guide us in the path of life.
Obtain for us grace, mercy and courage,
and defend us from every evil.
Amen
The Life of Joseph
We know almost nothing about His words or thoughts as shared in the scripture, but his silence spoke volumes to the church. We need that SILENCE today in the modern world in which we live.
May St. Joseph be our intercessor and our guide along with our Blessed Mother. Amen.
Ever wanting to be faithful to your service,
With love and blessings,
—Fr. Sahayanathan Nathan
