St Gabriel Mural Project – A form of Evangelization

a mural can sow seeds of curiosity and reflection

As we know, we are going to have a new mural project picture of St. Gabriel. We planned it in such a manner that it brings out the beauty of our location, like the ocean, beach, and sand; at the same time, it is a portrait of St. Gabriel. It is coming out great, and many of you have shared lots of compliments. Thank you.

Evangelization traditionally involves preaching, teaching, and personal testimony. Yet, when words may fall short or hearts are too weary to hear sermons, visual imagery communicates with immediate power. A mural does not knock on doors or demand attention—it simply stands, open to all, with a message of love, endurance, and faith.

bold form of evangelization— proclaiming the Gospel not in words, but in colors and symbols

In communities that may include people of different beliefs or none at all, a mural can sow seeds of curiosity and reflection without coercion.

In this way, it becomes a gentle but bold form of evangelization— proclaiming the Gospel not in words, but in colors and symbols. The reason I wanted to put up the portrait is that it’s an indirect way of evangelization. It gets the attention of our people. It creates a sense of God in our hearts. It opens up hearts to look for God.

rosary tower

May the good name of the Lord God be glorified and honored. Please pray that we may soon, too, put up a rosary tower or like a bell tower, where we will have our Blessed Mother and Saint Gabriel statues, and on the top of that, we will put up a big cross. The height and size are under review by the city for approval.

Once it’s sorted out, with the permission from the Archdiocese, we will plan to put it out there. All I need then is your prayers.

Be Present at the Mass

Now that all of our winter parishioners have gone, may I request you all continue to be present for the Mass and to support the church in whatever way and however you can. We need you cooperation. It’s our church. It’s we who make the church. We are the church. Let us be MEMBERS of the church

With lots of love and blessings.

Ever wanting to be faithful to your service,

— Fr. Sahayanathan Nathan

I am in Rome on the Holy Doors Pilgrimage with a Group of Parishioners. Please keep us in your prayers. Preparations have begun for Holy Week and Easter. We have planned the liturgies and all the details they involve. I wish and pray that our people have a meaningful celebration of Holy Week and Easter.

The 40 days of Lent is a time of Prayer, Fasting and Almsgiving. We seek to follow Christ’s will more faithfully. “We recall the waters of baptism in which we were also baptized into Christ’s death, died to sin and evil, and began new life in Christ.” Pope Francis
